(REPLY) Sat Nam. The first thing you have to do is forgive yourself. It is your conscience that is bothering you, and understandably so. However, what is done is done. the thing is now to make the future brighter and put this past mistake behind you -- making sure that you do not repeat it. We do not have a judgmental Guru who is going to punish us for our mistakes, That is a very Christian attitude! Remember, God lives within you, breathes in you, and allows you the free will to make mistakes -- your suffering and pain comes from within your own soul which recognizes that infidelity is not acceptable. What I do not understand is why in the world your wife thinks she cannot serve the Guru and still have a normal, satisying and enjoyable sex life with you, her husband!!? This makes no sense to me whatsoever. Guru Nanak taught us to live the lives of householders, nowhere in Sikh teachings does it require celibacy of married people! You need to speak with her about this, and frankly, if she continues to refuse -- perhaps there is something deeper in her psychologically that makes her afraid of sex -- and this requires professional counseling. Possibly she has the best of intentions, but she has been misled to this conclusion, and you should not accept it. May God bless you and Guru guide you in this marriage, which should ideally be the divine union of two bodies with one soul! SP
