Summary of Question:Relationships And Familiy Differences

Hi Guys,

I have met the perfect girl for me. She's sikh, she's beautiful and she's loyal. I've been with her for 2 years and I have even met her mom once. We have a long distance relationship at the moment (I haven't seen her for a year). I plan on meeting her dad soon. Just so that you know I am a 25yrs old well educated bachelor that keeps his Sikhi close.

In the old days caste was used to determine marriages. If you were the same caste you go married, however in my situation this is not the case. The reason for same castes was a good matching set of values and beliefs. We are both from different castes and although we share a similar set of values our families are quite different. Her dad keeps his hair but her brothers have cut theirs in the last few years, the dad and brothers also drink. My parents on the other hand are Amritdhari. I'm not saying that my family is better or theirs is worse, what I am saying is that there are differences. My question is:

How do I deal with issues that come about from these differences ?
What do I say to her dad when I meet him for the first time ?
In your experience do you fore see problems ?

My parents say that in these situations there are certain problems (although they are not totally negative...just cautious) and obviously with such high divorce rates it has me thinking am I making the right choice with her.

Thanks
