Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,

Let me begin by saying that this question and answer forum is a great way of teaching and reaching out to not only Sikhs all over the world but all people...Great job! I have looked through your site carefully and enjoyed almost everything I saw and read, however when I read your responses to question and comments regarding Khalistan issues not only did I find the indivinduals answering question regarding Khalistan making fun of the word Khalistan but also giving wrong information. On one response you guys called Khalistan, an unorginal term. There is nothing unorginal when it comes to anything related to the word KHALSA...we have always been orginal and pure...and due to our orginality we are suffering from discrimination from our own home country. I do belive Khalistan is unquestionably necessary, because everyone needs a home...a home that they can call their own...you think the Guru didnt know we were going to be fighting for freedom and a Khalistan? Sri Dasam Granth states everything that has happened and will happen to the Khalsa, Guru Gobind Singh knew that Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale were going to rise. In one of your answers an individual told the person who asked the question to wait and see what is going to happen, how is that possible for Khalsa to do? Our whole religion is based on not waiting and watching to see what will happen. You guys think Guru Gobind Singh Ji was not political? They were the most political Guru ever, being politcal is part of being a perfect Singh or Singhni of the Guru. Look at people in Tibet, ask them how important it is to be FREE, ask them wouldnt they have had a better political understanding. They are almost all hidding in India, practically begging for the world to help them get their home. Why do you think Sikhs are scattered all over the world? Because we have to be. We need a home...we're no one ever will be able to walk in to our Gurudawaras with shoes or hats on and murder our children and men, rape our women. The holocaust that happened in 1984 is not history...17 years is not history...do you consider a 17 year old to be someone who has seen history? No, thus something that has happened 17 years ago is not history. I DO NOT believe in revenge but I DO belive in teaching a lesson so that revenge will never have to be an option. Maybe you guys lack knowledge on issues of Khalistan because you are all western born Sikhs...well I am not, I was very young when the attacks happened in 1984 but I do remember the odor of dead bodies, I do remember my uncles and father being taken away, I do remember young girls jumping into the Serovar just so they wont be raped, I remember my mom and Grandman pulling out thousands of bodies of young men, children, women, out of the Serovar at Darbar Sahib and you ask why we need a Khalistan? How can we forget that? How can we forget all the Singhs and Singhnian who have gave their lives for the cause. Maybe you should read some of the speeches of Sant Jarnail Singh Binderanwale, they knew why we need a home, and they were the only one MAN enough to stand out and speak up about why certain things were being done to the Sikhs. Have you ever noticed that whenever a Sikh does anything good, he is called a "Indian" and when there is killing or something of negative consequuence, he is called "Sikh". In your answers you say that we should live for a higher law, that we should not get involved in politics, that that is not the concern for a Sikh...what nonsense...we are the army of GOD, WE HAVE TO BE POLITICAL in order to be a warrior. How can one decide what is right or wrong when one does not know politics, through politics we are able to fight injustice in this world now. Khalsa and politics go hand in hand, why do you think we have our own flag? dont you think Guru Gobind Singh Ji wanted the Khalsa as a seperate nation? Why do you think we put the Khalistani flag on the Red fort? There is not just one reason for why the Guru did what They did, thus there are many reasons to why Guru Gobind Singh Ji didnt establish a seperate nation, our understanding is limited when trying to figure out the Guru, the Guru knows all that have suffered and still are suffering for Khalistan and the Guru does hear us, the Guru will give us our home. Without Khalistan, we are Indians...no one thinks of us Sikhs, you think I like putting down Indian when I fill out an application? No...I hate it...I want to be known as a Khalistani, someone from the land of the Khalsa, the pure, the warriors, the Gurus chilidren. If we had our own RAJ, everyone would know who Khalistanis are, there would be so much awarness and unity that we would never suffer from a holocaust like the one in 1984. I am not saying that just by having a Khalistan we will be all united and that their would be no corruption, I am just saying that at the very least we would have a beginning to freedom. But I believe that when we do get a Khalistan, Guru Maharaj will provide us with great leaders as he as with Sant Jarnail Sing. If you ever want to know about Khalistan and why we need it..go to some of the villages in punjab and ask the mothers of the sons who were burned alive or hanged or murdered, or ask the mother of the daughters who were raped over and over in jail by the Indian police, ask these mothers who lost all of their future why we need a Khalistan? If you people who answer these questions on Khalistan had lost someone in your family trust me you would be wondering too why is no one trying to get Khalistan, you too would be saying KHALISTAN ZINDHABADH!

Forgive me for any mistakes made while stating my opinions above.
A humble Singhni,
Karandeep Kaur

Greetings in the name of God, the light of every soul, and in the name of Guru, the light of every Sikh. Thank you for writing and sharing your experience and views on Khalistan. This is truly an issue that divides the Khalsa, perhaps it is our most divisive issue. I feel the pain you have written about and it is true that I have no personal direct experience of the terrible attacks on Sikhs in 1984 and throughout history. Each morning we remember the loses of our sons and daughters and all of the sacrifices offered in our Ardas, but you who have lived through these times and struggles know the pain far greater than we can imagine.

It is true we have not been blessed with a land and country to call our own. I understand that you and others believe we deserve our own country, but I cannot help but feel that to create our own country would be shirking our true responsibility. Although we do not have a country, we have yet a Sikh Nation that exists around the globe. I do see our Sikh Nation as Akal Purkh, infinite and omnipresent. Thankfully we have our sacred Hari Mandir Sahib which Akal Purkh protected, and for which our holy Akal Takhat sacrificed itself to save from harm. Yes, it is true our "home", the Hari Mandir Sahib, is technically under the control of the Indian government, but I do not believe for a moment that any political or government force has the power to go up against Akal Purkh. I do hear your words, but in my heart I cannot give that much credibility to the political and government realm - to say I do not belong to the Sikh Nation and to Akal Purkh because we do not have a particular country or government.

I believe that the planet earth is the home of our Sikh Nation and our realm and responsibility is to all of the people in all of the lands and all of the countries. I pray deeply that Sikhs everywhere would know our unity and strength as a Sikh Nation, our power and our stature, our nobility and grace is in our purity of spirit wherever we may be. Our outreach is unlimited and all inclusive of everyone in all countries and all religions. We do not seek to convert, but we offer in the Name of Guru home for the homeless, hope for the hopeless, shelter for the shelterless. Guruji says over and over in Siri Guru Granth Sahib that our home is in the heart. We may travel anywhere to find God, but until we realize God within our travel is for naught. I believe God and Guru live in the heart of our Sikh Nation, and for this I feel great joy and know we have infinite power - far greater than any government realm could bestow on our people. Guru Hargobind created his Sikhs as Sant Supaee with responsibility for Miri Pirri - his two swords represented the temporal and spiritual realm. I have never understood that either the temporal or spiritual realm of protection Guru provides is limited to a particular land mass, but rather I have always believed it is for all people throughout our entire earth. Our Sikh Nation has a home and a realm of responsibility. It is vast and all encompassing of this entire earth. Humbly, S.S. Gurumeet Kaur Khalsa
