hi i have a question

lets say you don't follow the sikhi way e.g. don't follow 5 ks, eat meat.. etc
is there any point of doing paath, and is there any point of asking God for something, because it probaly won't happen

The point of following the Sikhi way (5 K's, vegetarianism, etc) isn't to "get into heaven". Just because someone keeps the 5 K's and follows all the dogma does not mean he or she will be "saved". There is no concept of Western style heaven in Sikhism or in many Eastern religions. Indeed, historically heaven was created by Western religions as a way to control people and to keep the christian church in good financial state -- by keeping people in fear. Sikhism does not believe in fear, There is But 1 God, Truth is his name, She is the creator of all, Without Fear and Without Enmity. There is no need to fear God, God does not hate. God is not a single fathomable entity in the sky sitting around and pointing his finger making things happen.

So why do we do paath? It is not to gain material wealth or to have our dreams come true. Only we can do that. We do paath to realize if we really need material wealth or not. We do paath to realize ourselves. We do paath to give us discipline. With discipline we can make any of our dreams come true. People did not get to the moon by saying "Please God, let us go to the moon" everyday dogmatically. Paath is used to focus our mind on the true name. By realizing the truth, we can realize ourselves. Once that is accomplished, things fall into place quite easily. We got to the moon because people had discipline and worked hard at attaining their goals. Similarly, doing paath helps to understand the True Nam and this will in turn make it easier for you to attain your dreams.

Gur Fateh,
HSD
