Hello,

First of all, to the person who replied that referred to “you people’s immense stupidity will be duly rewarded in time” – that was just rude.

To the initial question, I am not a scholar, but I would like to share my take on your points.

You mention, “Why in the first place we follow 300 years old tradition”. Our Gurujis not only thought about that time but were so far ahead of their times. They explained that there are infinite universes out there, at a time when no one ever thought of such things. They talked about women being equals, long before such movements evolved, and so much more. Then why do we question GuruJi’s instruction now about Kesh? Did GuruJi not know what He was talking about, though universes have been proven to exist, and we take pride in our women being of equal stature? Or is it just no longer convenient?

To the very initial posting (to men 22-30) as well the second posting from Germany. At the end it is all about choices. Waheguru gave us free will to decide how to make the best of our lives. I can’t judge, and nor should anyone else. Yes, at the end you will reap what you sow. And yes I know of Amritdhari men who put a bad name to GuruJi’s true Sikhs, and some wonderful non-Sikhs whose souls just vibrate with GuruJi’s love. In my opinion a true Sikh would not waiver, would always hold his head up as well as those of others. He is not one to blend into the crowd and hide from injustices.

Sure thrive to excel in the competitive world, but do not use that as an excuse to go without Kesh. It is your choice to go without Kesh.

You don’t care if someone identifies you as Sikh or not. That’s fine. But why not?

You feel bad/ embarrassed for those who get insulted in front of their family. Why? Instead encourage that family and let them know that you envy them for following their beliefs. They don’t need your pity, but your support would be wonderful.

A lot of what we go through are due choices we make. They’re not wrong nor are they right. They are a gift from Waheguru. What choice we make, is up to us. But ask Him for guidance, and truly listen for it. And remember He will always love you.

I do believe you must be true Sikh from within. The outer form helps achieve this Sikhi. You may have the outer form already – this will help you understand the Truth within Sikhism and just be stronger in your faith. You may not have the outer form – that’s OK too, ask for guidance and it (the outer form) will come when you are truly ready for it. You will notice the Blessing, when you truly have both (inner and outer) forms.

As far as others go, depending on the situation - educate them, befriend them -much of the staring and looks occur due to ignorance or fright. They may just need a "Hello, how are you?".
