Waheguru je ka khalsa, Waheguru je ke fateh.

I know someone that eats meat, actually I know tons of people that eat meat. Sometimes when I try to tell them about how Sikhs don't eat meat and stuff, they come up with all sorts of arguments against what I'm saying, like 'You'r aloud eating SOME types of meats' or just something that'l just make me stop trying like 'you shouldn't say that, it might hurt people's feelings'. Well, I don't eat meat, and I realy strongly believe that everything our Guru's say should be followed. So, after saying all that, I just wanna ask: "What should I tell them to make them stop eating meat?"

----

Everything in Sikh Dharma is about consciousness. We are not meat eaters because meat affects our consciousness. It is very difficult to reach a place of inner calm and spiritual enlighentment with the karma of meat weighing heavy on us. It is hard to reach a higher consciousness with the heaviness of meat putrifying in our intestines. We don't eat meat because we don't believe in killing other living beings with souls, like us. My daughter once said, "We don't eat anything that has a mother." We are all One with the Creator.

As far as what you can say to convince others? Just be your self and live your life as you know is best for you. Be an example. If some one is sincere in wanting to know, then tell them why you are a vegetarian. Otherwise, people have to want to change and experience the consciousness for themselves of not eating meat. You can't "convince" someone unless they are ready to hear it. It is not your job to convince anyone. Just live your life the best you can. Others who are inspired will make changes for themselves. Remember as Sikhs, we are not evangalists, trying to convert someone. Everyone has to make their own choices from within. May Guru guide you. GTKK
