Sat Siri Akaal Ji.
There is no "best way." Study JapJi. Attend Gurdwara and bow your head to Siri Guru, asking for guidance on this. Talk to members of Sikh Congregation ("Sangat"). Read Siri Guru Granth Sahib (Sikhnet has an English translation). Talk to Amritdhari Sikhs (who are baptized). Browse Sikhnet Web site entirely as well as the sites at http://www.sikhseek.com and learn Sikh history and teachings. Study the Rehit of Guru Gobind Singh. Chant the Name of God (Wa-hay Guroo) for at least 30 minutes every morning before the sun rises.
Really, it is very hard to practice Sikhi without Sangat. Find Sangat members who can mentor you as you start on your path, and then the rest will flow from there.
Guru's blessings upon you always,
