Even though we are all not going out to get married or somthing, I feel by just going out with another person will help us build charicter by seeing someone elses views. I suncerly feel to tell someone they can not go out is like takeing away their natural right.
Greetings to you in the Name of God and Guru.
Sounds like someone is bugging you. Are you 12 years old? Well, small kids are dating these days and doing all kinds of things that the media says is COOL.
You build your character by being yourself, knowing yourself and maintaining yourself in your grace. Childhood and youth is a time to relax within yourself without the pressures of heavy emotional relationships. Our society is not giving us this message nor is our society promoting elevated spiritual consiousness.
You will most probably be in a marriage your entire life, dealing with the ups and downs of a relationship. Now is the time you get to build your base to be a strong and conscious individual to learn about how to deal with the ups and downs that you are now experiencing as a single person.....didn't some great philosopher say...' above all, know thyself'. Now is your chance to apply Guru's wisdom to your life. It is a waste of your time arguing with your parents.
You can have fun with your friends without isolating yourself in a "date" situation...where you usually will succomb to someone elses expectations and beheviors that will not help you in your, life.
We have a chance to live consiously not emotionally by following the great wisdom of our Siri Guru Granth Sahib. The Guru is our guide. The Guru gives us a foundation for how to live our lives. Very few people in this world have this gift of a Guru or guide. Have you read the Guru and learned to "build " your character (as you said above) by learning to know the views of the Guru? Try this.
Be kind to yourself, listen and learn.
God bless you, Sat Kirin Kaur Khalsa
