i asked the question about kara ( did i say the right thing to my mate and how can you use a kara for self defence).
well, i didn't mean it in the way i think you think i meant it. the thing was that she wanted to know why Sikhs cn wear Kara's to skool but Christians can't wear crosses to skool :-)

Sat Siri Akaal. That is a good question. The cross is such a well-known symbol, I guess a Christian could only wear it hidden under a shirt (if wearing it out causes problems). The kara looks just like a plain bracelet to anyone who doesn't know what it is or stands for. I imagine that's the difference. Additionally, for a Sikh a kara is required to be worn, but for a Christian, there is nothing in Christianity that mandates wearing a cross. Perhaps this is recognized by the school. I am not clear on WHY the school forbids wearing of crosses in the first place though.
