on the 3/8/02 u got a question on 'sikh conversion to khalsa (in appearance) quite ironical' i thought the guy bought up sum really interesting questions which in all honesty i think u avoided instead of answering full on. Cud u please give more solid answers to this question. With the grace of God i thought of sum possible answers and i was wondering wat u thought of them n if they wud b of any help to the boys problems.

1. His friend is saying that the khalsa opposes Guru Nanak Dev Jis philosophy of 'simple living' but id like the boy to ask his friend wat is so compicated about combing ur hair (which is what most people sikh or non-sikh do anyway)and tying a turban in the morning! this whole process takes in all honesty a couple of minutes, n i dont c what is extra complicated in puttin on keshara which basically takes as long as wen non sikhs as his friend is put on there boxers in the mornin! n puttin on ur kirpan (kara will already b on ur wrist) so there is nothin compicated in puttiin on the sikh identity in the morning it includes basic practices done by every other person, its jus the meaning that essentially differs. i bet if u get ready in the mornin nex to ur friend u will both take bout the same time. So no Guru Nanak's simple living philisophy is NOT contradicted by the identity of the pure Khalsa member.

2. The first nine Gurus wer NOT all from hindu families, please remember this.We r not hindus!!!Guru Ram Das married into Guru Amar Das's family guru Arjan Dev ji was guru Ram das's son. So he was 100% born into a sikh family. His son to was the sixth Guru, Guru Har Gobind n if i am not mistaken the following 4 Gurus wer all related to this family either in the direct hereditory line ( both Guru Har Rai n Guru Tegh Bahdar wer sons of Guru Har Gobind) or otherwise. So NO all the gurus wer NOT born into hindu families so they wer not clean shaven. Guru Nanak dev ji's philosophy saw the human body as the temple of God, so our hair is a gift from God, it is essential to the way he made us n so who r we to argue with his creation. It is a symbol of our identity and our unyielding faith in the way God has made us n how we trust his judgement over that of any contemporary fickle fashions that the world contains.Guru Gobind Singh ji was the tenth guru. His was the final installment of the living Gurus, we as sikhs cannot pik n choose which Gurus we want to follow n which teachings we think suit us. As sikhs the word of the Gurus is 'gospel' Guru Gobind Singh Ji finished of the plan for the ideal person begun by Guru Nanak Dev ji. A sikh is a follower of the teachings of the Guru, so one must desire to follow the teachings of ALL the gurus to call himself a sikh. A khalsa is a superhuman, he/she is a saint solider, able to be at one with the all mighty at one minute, yet able to fight against any tyranny on earth the next. We as sikhs should all aspire to b super human khalsa members. A khalsa incoparates all the teachings of all the gurus, so a sikh, is somebody who is ready to learn and has the desire to become a complets human being i.e a sikh.

i hope i havent taken up to much of ur time n i hope u can send this to the boy if u think it is any good. please e-mail me ur thoughts on what i have written i wud b very appreciative. i hope i havent offended anybody u all do a wonderful job here.

WHAEGURU JI KA KHALSA, WHAEGURU JI KI FATEH
