hi, i have a few questions

1. does doing paath help with your dreams coming true. lets say you want to become a lawyer and want a beautiful, smart wife, will doing paath help. if you beg God for things like this, will he make it come true or is it based only your destiny.
2. why do some people in life get everything ex good marriage, carreer, money, even though they don't do any paath or anything.

Sat Sri Akal,

1) If you want to become a lawyer, then you must work hard in school. Only you can make yourself succeed. Beautiful doesn't exist, it is all maya. Like the saying goes "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

2) Some people have better karmas from previous lifes and it makes it seem like they have a better life. However, is having money going to make you a happier person? Is a good job going to give you joy in life? These things are merely maya -- they only exist in this world and are of no use to you at all. In the city I live in there is a man here who has millions of dollars and lives in a mansion on a hillside, but he can't find a wife to spend his life with (I saw this on a news story). He has a good job, millions of dollars, and he has no hardships in his life, but is he happy? Probably not, or else he would not be on the news looking for a wife.

We do not do paath to ask for material goods or wealth. We do paath to realize the Sat Nam. There is no other reason. When you realize the Sat Nam you will be free of maya and will not lust after people who seemingly have it "better" than you.

Gur Fateh,
HSD
