I have a question that has me puzzled for ages and i know this is the only place that can help me. I am 18 years of age and rarely go to gurudwara but still i know a lot about sikhi coz i like to read books and research. I am everything a sikh should be dont eat meat, drink, body pierce etc but i dont do paat either the most important. And worse yet im not amrit shaka. But i still wana do paat coz i like listenin to pathis wid gr8 voices too. So my wuestion woz and is can i do like a couple of pauris a day until i feel like i know what im reading? Im confused i always thought the whole guru granth sahib ji had to b read.

(RPLY) Sat Nam. Where did you ever get the idea that you have to read the whole Siri Guru Granth Sahib every day? You can read as many or as few Pauris of the various banis every day as you choose. Ideally, you would read all five banis every day, and try to read as much of SGGS as you can, which you can actually do on line! You can access it via SikhNet home page, and read a few pages at a time. What's great is that the tranlsation is included, so you can understand what the words mean. Someday, you may decide to take Amrit. It is a great blessing and a privilege. Meanwhile, continue living righteously and learn as much as you can about being a Sikh and a Khalsa! there is a lot of material available on SikhNet. Start exploring! Blessings, SP
