Greetings and blessings to you in the Name of God and Guru.
By the order of the Guru, there are no caste distinctions in our way of life. The caste systen is a Hindu ritual. It has no place in any of our practices as Sikhs. No one is higher or lower in the eyes of God and Guru.
Yes, you are right in a number of ways. When a parent insists that their child observe a caste restriction for marriage, they are wrong. Encouraging your love or fiance to stand by you and patiently work it through with her parents is appropriate. Also, having shared your love is very special and not to be taken so lightly. I would encourage you also, not to give up on her either. Committment is a very valuable quality in life and relationships.
God bless you and keep up!
