Summary of Question:In Response To Touching Meat Products And Cigarettes
Category:Sikh Practices
Date Posted:Sunday, 4/25/2004 9:28 AM MDT

Thank you for your response to my question in regards to alcohol and cigarettes. I would like further information if possible in regards to touching packaged meat because I would like to work in Tescos, I am a orthodox sikh and I wonder if our beliefs and customs are different to conventional sikhs. As well as your advice I would really appreciate further reading on this subject.

Thank you

I'm sorry I don't know what Tescos is. Is that a meat packaging company? You don't need to "read" more about this. Just think about it. It is a matter of consciousness. If you want to keep your consciousness pure and vibrating at a certain frequency, then you have to think about the environments you put your self in...and the people you associate with. Would it make sense for a graceful Khalsa woman to work in a bar or a strip joint? Would it serve my consciousness to sell cigarates or become a meat butcher? Think about it. Your consciousness becomes what you associate with. You know when you read Kirtan Sohila before you go to bed, your mind is repeating it in your sleep? When you recite Japji or a shabd during the day, that vibration is playing in your head during the day? It is the same with everything we do and read and think. Ask the Guru to help you find work that will match and compliment the consciousness you want to live in. I hope this answers your question. Blessings. GTKK
