I have a brother who is turbaned sikh and has beard. well we are seraching for a girl for him to get married. This has brought a serious issue. 70% of the girls don't want to get married to guys with beards and turbans. It is surprising that this exists in sikh families. I was going through the matrimonials on sikhnet for the same purpose and 80 % of them want non-turbaned "sikh". I am wondering does the turban makes a guy look ugly or person not to be hung around with. I am quite dipressed because of that fact cause I wear turban and have beard. I don't know why girls think that the sardars are not the persons to get married with. I hope that i will be able to get some help with this matter.

Sat Siri Akaal. I do not understand this, but you will find other posts on this Youth Forum asking the same question, so please search it. As a woman I can tell you I think turbaned bearded Sikhs are attractive and could not IMAGINE asking for anything less!

Ask yourself, are these girls REALLY Sikh? Would you or your brother want to marry any girl who places such restrictions on an observant Sikh? Think what other restrictions will occur: sons and daughters with cut hair and clean shaven! This is not the Sikh way!

Keep looking for an observant Sikh girl who wants to marry an observant Sikh boy. Do NOT lower your standards as a Gursikh! Step outside of caste considerations, which are meaningless and irrelevant to Gursikhs, and your universe will open up as well. You could always post your own matrimonial looking for girls who are Amritdhari and appreciate the form of Guru Gobind Singh.
