Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa,

Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

I have read a number of replies to various questions regading different problems etc, and I have noticed that many replies advise to recite a particular Bani 11 times a day. Why 11? Has Guru Ji confirmed this? Is there a refernce to SGGS?

Also why 90 days?

Anyway, I'd like to take the oppurtunity to congratulate the sangat that runs this Q&A forum as well as the site. It is great that our youth have an easy, anonymous place to turn for valuable advice based on Sikh principles. Congratulations!

Sat Siri Akal.

Reciting something 11 times or doing it for 90 days is more like outlining an exercise program. You know - you can run one lap in the gymn, or 11 laps. Chances are - 11 laps are going to help you more than one. Reciting a Shabad 11 times is going to make you pay attention to the meaning of the words much more than if you chant it once. You'll be in the virbation of the Naad longer, you'll be in a meditative state longer. Doing it every day for 90 days - same thing. Like an exercise routine - stick with it for a committed length of time - you're bound to see a result.

This is not something from the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, but it is something that the Siri Singh Sahib of Sikh Dharma has taught. Again - it's taught as a technique to dscipline and exercise oneself. That's the purpose behind it.

Thank you for your kind words about the forum.

All love,

GPK
