Sat Siri Akaal. They made for you a vegetarian meal! How kind! The idea that Sikhs cannot break bread with Muslims sounds like some non-Sikh, Brahministic practices have wormed their way into Sikh thinking. To turn down their invitation is nothing short of rude. You are not being asked to eat their meat! If every Guru since Amar Das required those seeking Guru's darshan (or advice!) to sit and eat langar first, you can be darn sure some of those folks were practicing Muslims sitting with Guru's devotees. Please print this and show it to your mum. It is not part of the Sikh way to avoid others when they have gone out of their way to accommodate us!
Guru ang sang,
