Im 13 and my sister is 16. "Why do my parents make me wait for things just because my sister didn't get it when she was my age?" It seems like my sister has say in where I go, what I do, who my friends are, and, what I get. Is it sapose to be that way?

(REPLY) Sat Nam. It really may have nothing to do with your sister, but maybe it's simply the policy of your allow certain things at a certain age. It might be just the same for you even if you didn't have an older sister! Usually parents know what is appropriate for a particular age, so I would recommend that you relax about this, and stop feeling that you are competing with your sister. There is a saying, "Patience pays." Wait and believe it or not, you will not be 13 forever. There is a time (and a place) for everything. I know it seems hard now, but it's the way it is, and since you can't change it, it's better to stop fighting it and wasting your energy being angry and resentful. Instead, just as an experiment, try thinking about all the things you have to be grateful for! I'm sure there are plenty of them! Your happiness or unhappiness is entirely up to you -- no matter what you have or don't have, your happiness depends upon your own state of mind -- and no one can control that except you. So, determine to be happy and grateful NO MATTER WHAT! and see what happens. Blessings, SP
