Summary of Question:Hindu Punjabi Wearing Kara's
Category:General Sikhism
Date Posted:Sunday, 3/14/2004 9:02 AM MDT

Sat Sri Akal, i was a confused because i know a lot of hindu punjabi who wear kara to show that they are punjabi. I am a sikh and to my best knowledge i wear a kara as a reminder to me that i have to be as strong as steel. I have mixed feeling whether they should use a symbol of sikhism to maybe it a punjabi identification.

----

Is it really up to us to decide who should wear a kara or not? Should Christians or Jews question anyone who wears a Cross or Star Of David? If you are a Sikh, you believe in karma, which absolves you of other's responsibilities when it comes to such matters. It is between their soul and God. You don't have to bother yourself of such things. Just live as the best Sikh you can...with compassion, acceptance and kindness to others. GTKK
