Dear one --

I know how you feel because I have had my parents going through similiar phases. However, I have learnt to not let that effect the inner peace within me while being senstive to them at the same time. I think sometimes our parents don't realize how much they are hurting us and letting them know (politely when they are not so angry) can be a good idea or even writing them a letter to express our frustrations and pain.

While going through such times can be very difficult, it can become much easier if we start finding joy in little things (like helping individuals whether it is about letting an old person get ahead of a line in a store or helping a fellow classmate with something). It is simple things in life that can bring us joy. And of course, we will always have Waheguru on our side and he loves us unconditionally. What more can we ask for than thank him every morning when we wake up and every night before going to bed.

Also, spend time looking for healthly hobbies like cooking, gardening, reading, meditating, listening to kirtan or nice classical music. In such times, we can also look for some support within our family (from cousins or even good friends when we feel like we need to talk to someone) without being dependant on them. I have been involved in these dramas since fifth grade myself and trust me, I know how much it hurts but knowing that we recognize the negativity in our home and being able to live joyfully even during such time portrays real courage.
