Sat SIRI AKAAL Ji.
For Sikhs to say it is NOT OK to become a freemason ignores our history which has always fought for one's right to worship and believe as one wants. Is some Sikh jethadar going to come out and tell someone that they "can't be Sikh if they are Freemason"? No. But at some point the Sikh who becomes a Freemason perhaps ceases to be Sikh.
So, it is a strictly personal decision. I'm not going to tell you that one can't be Sikh and be Freemason.
HOWEVER, if the Sikh in question is Amritdhari, then s/he is probably breaking their vow to bow to and follow no one but Siri Guru Granth Sahib. It is still a personal decision, but an Amritdhari Sikh who considers becoming a Freemason has this to think about.
BTW, the founding fathers of the United States were Masons--I am unsure if that is exactly Freemason, but it is related.
