Black, najar and numbers

1. What is the significance of the colour black to a Sikh?
I have heard so many people say to me that it is a bad colour to have for e.g a car?

2. What does najar or nujur mean? The older generation continually state that people can do najar on you if jealous or something?

3. Why do some people attach a black cloth usually to the back of their cars?

4. Is the number 13 or any other number unlucky or lucky in Sikhism?

Please forgive me if these questions sound stupid but I just wanted to clarify what this is all about independently.

(REPLY) Sat Nam. These all are superstitions, and as far as I know have no relationship to Sikhism. They are probably cultural beliefs. Perhaps someone else may know more of their origin. SP
