Dear Fellow Sikhnet Users

WJKK WJKF

This is not a question rather an answer to some commonly asked question on sikhnet. Time and time again, people have asked question and have wanted exact versus from the Guru Granth Sahib to back up the answer give.

For example question regarding cutting hair, drugs, eating meat etc? the answers to these question are quite simple. To my knowledge and I might be wrong on this point, but I don?t think that someone seeking an answer to cutting hair, taking drugs, eating meat with a direct quote for the Guru Granth Sahib can not be answered. The Guru Granth Sahib is not a book of rules as some people have come to think it is. The Guru Granth Sahib is a message to all human kind, on remembering god and living a good honest life, which will help you to break the cycle of birth and death.

To answer the questions regarding cutting hair, taking drugs, eating meat. We don?t really need any scientific answer as given by the sikhnet website, because as a youth myself, I know those answer really mean nothing to the youth and they seem to be silly answer to stop some one from cutting their hair, eating meat, or whatever the case is.

The answer to these types of questions is simply. All we have to do is understand what Guru Gobind Singh Ji said. Guru Gobind Singh Ji said, ?The rehit is more important to me, the Sikh is not? Simply translated and understood. This means that to the Guru being a Sikh means nothing, it is more important to adhere to the REHIT given by the guru to the Sikh. Understanding this will help answer question on cutting hair, taking drugs, eating meat, because if one takes time out to read the Rehit, it is clearly stated within the Rehit that these ?things? are forbidden within the Rehit for the Sikh.

Bearing in mind that the Rehit is more important to the guru then being a Sikh, it is up to the reader whether they wish to follow the rehit or just be a ?Sikh? Please forgive any mistakes.

Thank you for your time.
