SatNaam

i am a Sikh of the Guru born in a Brahmin family and making myself fit for Amrit someday in the future...there is a hindu who works with me and has a problem with my being into Sikhi...we had a heated argument today at work...i remarked that lord krishna had 16,108 wives, out of which 8 were his own wives and 16,100 were the ones whom he gave refuge after freeing them from the clutches of a demon, as they didn't wanna go back disgraced to their families...i never said a word against krishna whom i myself used to worship when i was a devout hindu...but this man uttered some venomous remarks about Guruji...i came back home, and when my fury couldn't hold any longer, i cried my life out, making my face and eyes red as blood and went to the extent of cutting and physically abusing myself (though not severely) for not breaking his jaw for saying what he said...i have decided not to speak with this faithless imposter...please help me with my rage, as i have a very bad temper...please guide me and tell me what to do

awaiting your prompt response in desperation!

Guru Rakha

(REPLY) Sat Nam. Never argue with a fool. Don't waste your God given energy in anger, you are only hurting yourself. Discussing religion with someone, unless they ask for information, is usually a mistake. Best if you avoid getting into any discussions with anyone, much less arguing about religion! Change that anger energy into the courage to remain silent, and avoid provoking any remarks. When we talk back to someone who is rude, we may get even, but if we don't say anything, we get ahead of them! Ego makes us angry, so be aware that the anger is your problem, the man at work was just an instrument that God provided to show you what lesson you need to learn! Best way to get over being angry is to forgive, and bless the offending party in your prayers. If you want to take Amrit, that is your personal private business, and not something to be discussed at work. Calm down, and try to live as saintly a life as you can, because that is what our Guru told us to do! Blessings, SP
