Sat Sri Akaal,

This is a question that i have been trying to find a answer to for while.

I am happily married to a sikh guy and am trying to understand the sikh religion bettter as i have not been a practicing sikh.

An elderly auntyji told me recently that in the Sikh religion, it's states that boy and girl should be of same religion as we are breaking the bond of bro/sis and am entering the bond of husband/wife - which i completely dont get

How can we be bro/sis one minute then next get into the bonds of a marriage

She also mentioned that in a Sikh marriage, it is stated that " sex" is only for the purpose of bearin children like the Hindu religion. iS that true?

Like any religion, SOME of our elderly members are rather narrow-minded and fanatical. I'm sure this auntiji means well, but she actually is not doing you a service. You are happily married. Let it remain that way. Try to avoid this auntiji's advise...be kind to her and when you can't avoid it, thank her and go on with your happy life. What she says is a reflection of her life and her experience. It is not yours. Sex is for enjoying and creating that close bond between husband and wife...besides creating children (when husband and wife are ready for that commitment). So, enjoy yourself and don't put any importance on what this auntiji says. If she happens to say something that makes sense to you, listen and appreciate her wisdom and experience. Blessings. GTKK
