my mother once told me that a bhai at the gurdwara said that Guru Gobind Singh Ji is waiting for all Sikhs at Hazoor Sahib, as long as they go there before the age of 60. is this is true??
i thought we don't believe in pilgrimages as our Guru resides wherever Guru Granth Sahib is. (basically i could remain a devout sikh and never have had paid homeage to Harmandir Sahib).

You are correct. Where Siri Guru Granth Sahib is, that is where the Guru is. To understand history and culture, it is always educational to travel to places such as Hazoor Sahib. But for purposes of spiritual development, meditating on Gurbani and practicing the discipline of Guru Gobind Singh will give you all you need.
