I don't believe in this system of so-called 'castes' but i was wondering if there is a specific hierachy, with say 'Jatt' being at the bottom. Also am i right in saying there are sub-divisions. It seems very complicated, could you please explain it to me..

(REPLY) I'm curious to know why you want to know this? Not only do we as sikhs not "believe" in the caste system. I think we need to do everything possible to get it out of our cultures and out of our thinking, and out of any vague reference to it! God lives in each of us, and Guru Gobind Singh abolished the caste system once and for all. Perhaps someone else may supply you with an historic, scholarly explanation of it, but why bother? SP
