---

Dear John,

One of the reasons the Sikh religion began was to create equality amongst all peoples, religions and genders. Before Guru Nanak began "singing" his hymns, women were not allowed to worship. Guru Nanak began singing about the equality of all people...including women. There is nothing in the Sikh scriptures to exclude women. There are examples of Sikh women even fighting in battle. Sikh women should be allowed to participate in all areas of worship. In some backward, ignorant and prejudiced Sikh communities, women are not allowed to fully contribute. It is the community's loss. Times are changing. Soon women will overcome such narrow mindedness. I hope you are an Aquarian man and open to the equality of all...and to the power and beauty of women. If you know those who are ignorant, stand up to them and defend your sisters. Be a part of change...not stagnation. Blessings. GTKK
