Summary of Question:Sikh Women And Turbans
Category:Sikh Practices

i would just like to say that other people who don't think that sikh women should wear turbans are completely wrong and ignorant, but i believe will sooner or later come round. i come from a fairly religious family, but when my older sister announced that she and her husband were taking amrit and she would be wearing a turban i was dead against it, so was the rest of my family. we all tried to talk her out of it extensively. looking back now, i can see how wrong i was to do this. it is an individuals decision and people should not feel intimidated by others if this is what they reaaly want. i am soo glad they she had a strong will and took amrit.

I agree that we should support everyone, regardless of male or female, who wants to wear a turban. In today's world, women have to look a certain way to be "accepted" by society. I admire every woman who keeps her hair, doesn't shave her legs/arms and even keeps a turban.

As a young man, I can say that nothing is more beautiful to me than to see a true Sikh woman. All Sikhs should support women in our religion and help all the youth to overcome the sometimes senseless attitudes of this society.

Gur Fateh,
HSD
