The Rehit requires Sikhs to be faithful to one spouse and hold sacred sexual relations by married couples joined in the Anand Karaj in vows taken before the Siri Guru Granth Sahib and the Sadh Sangat.

Before marriage, there may not be specific teachings that condone or condemn dating. There are taboos in Indian cultural traditions.

If two people date, respect, honor, and consideration should apply in the relationship. Dating should not be taken lightly. It is up to the individuals involved to make important choices, and it is imperative to act in ways that do not undermine your values. Be true to yourself and uphold your your values, your dignity, self-respect, and respect one another. One of the pitfalls in dating is the tendency to follow the crowd, and to make choices bowing to peer pressure. You must know yourself, clarify your values, and uphold your commitment to your own and others' dignity, divinity, and grace in all of your relationships and activities. God bless you and Guru guide you always. -GMK
