I think Sikhs today face different kinds of challenges. Instead of there being physical tortures as existed in their day, we go through different agonies. We are challenged with the maya of modern society; daring to stand for what we believe (which is not so different than what Guru Gobind Singh taught). We have to face the challenge of strange diseases and illnesses. People now-a-days have a lot of mental and emotional "torture". It is expressed right here on the Sikh Youth Forum; it is expressed everyday in our newspapers; it is expressed in our workplaces and schools. Human suffering and challenges will never change or end. What matters is how we deal with those challenges in life. Never before is practicing the Naam and utilizing its power more appropriate and needed than right now in this 21st Century. What gave the Gurus the faith and strength they had to go through such hardships was the Naam. They were not Gods, they were human, but through the Naam, they tapped into the God within them and were able to accomplish superhuman endurance. We need superhuman endurance today as well, which is at our disposal if we chant the Naam. GTKK
