i was jus wondering what sikhis view on capital punishment aka death penalty was?

(REPLY) Sat Nam. This is a good question. I've never seen an "official" statement on the subject. I can only refer to what the Guru teaches us about life and death, and that is that God is the Giver of all life, and God takes it back, not us. Guru Gobind Singh taught us that only when all other means have failed is it righteous to take up the sword; so we don't go around killing people in retaliation. I don't think we follow "an eye for an eye" ethic. so, this is my personal opinion. What do YOU think? Blessings, SP
