Summary of Question:Looking At The Aquarian Stage

Sat Siri Akaal,

Can I ask a couple of questions.....

1) All this Aquarian Age stuff, where in the SGGS does it say that this matters, isn't it God's will and our worship of Guru Ji's name alone that is important..I'm sure it specifically says that you shouldn't belive in Star Signs etc..so why do discuss a belief in an 'age' determined by what some scientist has named a bunch of stars?

2) And Roadi Swami, it maybe a way of life but how do they believe in a Baba, I spoke to a Roadi Swami yesterday and he said to me that the part of the SGGS where Siri Guru Gobind Singh Ji imparted with the Guruship to the SGGS is added on and that if all those years ago Guru's could be human why can't they now? It says in the SGGS that we should not worship humans etc how do Roadi Swami's reconcile this? I understand that it is a way of living and not a faith within itself...but if they are to take of the physical form of Guru Ji's Sikhs then why do they have their own baba? I have been to RS's houses and they have photos of their Baba Ji's everywhere...It all seems so wrong so against the worship of the one true Guru...Waheguru

Thirdly, this is more for the moderators...i wrote in before about my dreams and how they tell the future...I would like to say that I feel I have taken control of them through Guru Ji's help and I now take what they tell me in my stride...even if it concerns someone I don't tell them...i don't know if i should...i just think that thing will happpen no matter if I tell that person or not...so I may as well not.

Well I look forward to hearing from u, I hope I haven't been naive in my comments.

Waheguru Ji Ki Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sat Sri Akal,

1) You are 100% correct. As a Sikh, one does not believe in any ages, be it satyug, kulyug, or Aquarian age or other nonesense. The Guru's shabad is timeless and does not follow so called ages. I need to make a quick correction to what you said though, Sikhs do not worship our Guru's name, Sikhs do naam japna, which is meditating on Waheguru. Naam japna/simran is all that is required for emancipation, regardless whatever 'age' people say we are in. As Guruji says,
"sarab nidhhaan mehi har naam nidhhaan. jap naanak dharagehi paravaan."
-> Of all treasures, the Lord's Name is the supreme treasure. Chant it, O Nanak, and be accepted in the Court of the Lord. (pg 288)

It doesn't matter what people say or how the "stars are aligned", doing Naam Simran is the best thing to do, ever. It is the only route to Waheguru. Sikhs should not discuss so-called horoscopes and should not even think about astrology as none of that matters.

2) Your Radha Swami friend is wrong, there is no part of SGGS with Guru Gobind Singh Ji's writings. What Guru Gobind Singh Ji said before he left us was:
"Agya bhai Akal ki tabhi chalayo Panth. Sabh Sikhan ko hukam hai Guru manyo.
Guru Granth Ji manyo pargat Guran ki deh. Jo Prabhu ko milbo chahe khoj shabad mein le. Raj karega Khalsa aqi rahei na koe. Khwar hoe sabh milange bache sharan jo hoe."
-> Under orders of the Immortal Being, the Panth was created. All the Sikhs are enjoined to accept the Granth as their Guru. Consider the Guru Granth as embodiment of the Gurus. Those who want to meet God, can find Him in its hymns. The Khalsa shall rule, and its opponents will be no more, Those separated will unite and all the devotees shall be saved.

It is intensely clear here that a SIKH should accept the SGGS as their Guru, no one else. Through the SGGS, God can be found. If the SGGS is our eternal Guru Ji, then obviously no one else can be. Therefore, a Sikh will not follow any one other than the SGGS.

About taking human form, Guru Nanak Dev Ji did not just all of a sudden start being a Guru like all these babas today. These babas today believe that they understand something or another and then start some sort of following. That is not what happened with Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He had permission from Waheguru to do what he did, and it is so stated in Japji Sahib, pauree 1 when he talks about how to break the wall of falsehood:
"hukam rajaa-ee chalna, Nanak likea naal."
-> Obey the will of Waheguru [His Hukam, to break the wall of falsehood], Nanak has and thus written this.

The end of the first pauree of Japji Sahib asks how to break free of maya and falsehood to reach Waheguru. Guru Nanak Ji answers by saying that by following the Hukam, one is emancipated, and "nanak likea naal" which means that Guru Nanak is writing this because that was the Hukam Guru Nanak received.

You are right, having pictures of baba's or anyone else to worship is against Sikhi. A Sikh will read Gurbani and accept that as the path to Waheguru, no intermediary is necessary.

Throughout human history, people have been calling themselves prophets of God and what-not, and this was prevalent in the time of the Gurus too. Even those that do not call themselves prophets of God, think that just because they have attained some knowledge they have some kind of mission and have to start a following, like various false babas do these days (i.e., Radha Swamis, Nirankaris, Naamdhaaris, Yogi Bhajan, etc.).

The beautiful thing about our Gurus is that they knew this would happen and already have an answer to these false people:
"mu(n)dhraa mon dhaeiaa kar jholee pathr kaa karahu beechaar rae. khi(n)thhaa eihu than seeao apanaa naam karo aadhhaar rae. aisaa jog kamaavahu jogee."
-> Make silence your ear-rings, and compassion your wallet; let meditation be your begging bowl. Sew this body as your patched coat, and take the Lord's Name as your support. Practice such Yoga, O Yogi. (pg 970)

What the Guruji is tellig us here is that all these false sants, babas, yogis, etc., are not the path to Waheguru. He is urging these people, and us, to live by three simple rules: Naam Japna, Wand Chakna, Kirt Karni. Practicing yoga, or mindless ritualism (ritualism isn't just praying to moorthis (stone idols), it can be senseless moving/flailing of the arms or dancing or whatever else that people think make them close to God) is not the way to Waheguru. True that yoga and such might make you healthy or give you flexibility, but it does nothing to make you closer to Waheguru, that is done through Naam Simran alone.

3) Thanks for the update! I hope that all is well for you, remember Waheguru and nothing can go wrong.

I hope all of this has made sense! Good luck.

Gur Fateh,
HSD
