I went to this weblink http://www.sikhwomen.com/equality/gender/kaursignificance.htm

from www.sikhwomen.com
and it says kaur means prince not princess, i couldnt understand this and it further says that guruji has called girls kaurs as on whom great responsiblities lies as on a prince. i want to say that i belived for guru ji both boys and girls are equal if this is so why guruji is giving, to a girl, a word which means male. why not a word meaning a girl to guys as there last or middle name. doesnt it looks males are superior to females as females are using kaur which means prince.
plz do tell
i m confused
(REPLY) I'm not familiar with that website. I believe they are mistaken. It is my understanding that "Kaur" means princess. Khalsa is used as a last name by both male (SINGH) and female, so that shows the gender equality. Men and women are different, but spiritually equal. blessings, SP
