I am comfused about spelling. Is it Baisakhi or Vaisakhi. I like to know the right spelling. In gurdwara i was told that it is Vaisakhi because this name comes from the month Vaisakh. Baisakhi means totally different and has no link to the Vaisakhi. So who is right?. I was told Baisakhi means crutches, used to support one when having a broken leg. It makes me wonder. So please reply with the right answer and explanation. Thank you.

I always thought it was how the word was adapted into English. Frankly, either spelling is legitimate. In USA, it is more common to see Baisakhi, in India, it seems more common (using the Roman alphabet) to spell it Vaisakhi. I don't know about the crutches meaning, but I think you can decide for yourself which spelling to use and stick with it. Guru ang sang,
