when the granthi is absent who reads from the guru granth sahib

(REPLY) Sat Nam. It is my understanding that anyone can read from the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. Usually when there is a designated Granthi, that person is probably most proficient in reciting the words correctly, but there is no restriction prohibiting anyone who has a reverent attitude, and the capabablity to read from doing so. For those who have the Guru in translation, it opens up the opportunity for many others to have that blessing and privilege. SP
