Sat siri akaal. I do not know if you are asking a question here. Practice of banee is a form of naam simran, indeed. But your heading asks "what is naam simran"?

Naam Simran means meditation on the Naam or Name of God. It means concious, focused verbal and /or mental chanting/vibration of the name of God. As Sikhs, we may chant "Sat Nam Waheguru" or "Waheguru Waheguru Waheguru Wahejio" or the Mul Mantra, or the slok/mantra that begins Sukhmani Sahib (Aad Guray Nameh, Jugaad Guray Nameh, Sat Guray Namey, Siri Guru Dayv Ay Namay"). In any event, Guruji tells us over and over in Siri Guru that meditation on the naam is the cure for all that ails us. The first pauris of Sukhmani Sahib describe this at length.

Guru ang sang,
