>>So is what your trying to say is that you have to be in a sikh
>>community or environment in order to feel the sikhness in yourself

Now that I have gone through what I have gone through... I have realized and experienced what it is to be a Sikh. I'm not perfect..but who is. At that time I did not understand. So my saying that being in a Sikh community with people of similar outlooks is important because at the phase that sahib is in...(and I was in).... I think there was still a lot that I had to learn and experience to understand why some of us are Sikhs...and what all the "fuss" is about. There are so many doubts and questions.

>>or that you are a chameleon, willing to adapt to different lifestyles
>>and that you wouldn't take a risk in moving away from a sikh
>>community again because you might just might become an average "joe".

Have you ever said...something like  "If I had only known what I know now....I wouldn't have done such and such"? That is the case for me. Much of the time when we are younger...we don't really understand why are parents are pressuring us to do things. We take it as something negative...when in most cases it is out of love and them knowing the outcome of certain actions.I think when we are young we have a wilder and more narrow outlook on life and our actions, and because of this it is very important how our friends and family support us.

I feel that I learnt alot from my experiences and am glad that I have gone through with them.... but I don't think it is necessary. Either learn the hard way through the hand of time....or take the lesson from others that have gone through it. It is all a matter of time. You can take a short route or a long route.
