I have put this question to a lot of people but no one has been able to answer. Can you help !! I know our Gurus would not have done anything wrong but then I want to know why Guru Hargobind Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji had more then 1 wife. I believe there were other Gurus also who got married twice or thrice.

Pls help me in finding the answer..

In the times of the Guru's, it happened that a father would gift his daughter to the Guru. Or, the daughter would say that she had a dream that she became the wife of the Guru. This was taken as a sign that she should marry only the Guru. These women were given to the care and protection of the Guru as a spiritual consort, not always as a fulfledged wife.

In the case of guru Gobind Singh, we know that Mata Ajit KAur was the mother of the Sahibzadas. Mata Sahib Kaur was a spiritual consort in that she had no physical relationship with the Guru. Rather, she became the 'Mother of the Khalsa'.
