Summary of Question:	Bala, Guru Nank's Other Companion

We always hear about Mardana, Guru Nanak's comapanion, we never hear much about Bala, Guru Nank's other companion, what is known about him, Mardana was a minstrel, what did Bala do? Are his descendents still around?

Sat Siri Akaal. Sorry for the delay. Bala was Guru Nanak's childhood friend who remained loyal to Guru Nanak throughout. Unlike Mardana, he (1) was a farmer, not a minstrel; and (2) did NOT travel with Guru Nanak. I do not know if Bala's descendants are around.

It is good for all Sikhs to remember that Guru Nanak had all kinds of people around him who were NOT the same 'caste' as he. Sikhs today are wise to remember this!
