Summary of Question:Sant Coming To My House (This Weekend)
Category:Gurdwara
Date Posted:Thursday, 5/06/2004 5:05 PM MDT

Waheguru Fateh,

I am in need of urgent advice. My parents and relatives believe in a Sant called Sant Naranjan Dass. He is from Bhalla in India and travels the world to teach about the bani of Bhagat Ravidass and occasionally some Sikh Gurus.

When he goes to different Gurdwaras around the world he is treated like royalty and the Sangat bow before him in front of the Guru Granth Sahib ji, they also get him to sit on a cushion in the gurdwara, (two things which are highly prohibited in Sikhi).

This Sant is due to come to my house on the weekend and it will be compulsory for me to bow before him and gain his blessing, however I feel I can only wholeheartedly bow before the SGGS ji and that is the only blessing I require.

Do you feel it will be wrong for me to accept this Sant as a teacher for me? Are these people sikhs? How can I handle this situation?

Please Help! I am eternally thankful!!!!!!

Wahe Guru Ji ka Khalsa
Wahe Guru Ji ki Fateh!

Just be respectful and gracious. Honor all humans - as all are holy.
You can make pranam with hands folded without having to bow to the floor.
Honor this man as you would any elder. With love, respect and grace.

When you meet your spiritual teacher you will know it in your heart without any doubt.
It is a very personal thing.
