Anyone is welcome to follow the Sikh path. If you wish to understand the path, I would strongly recommend that you read the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. You can read it in English on-line or download it in Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat format. As for wearing a turban and keeping uncut hair, Guru Gobind Singh gave these instructions to his Sikhs. A turban is tied in the morning and removed at night, before going to bed. The hair is then combed back for sleeping. If you'd like to know what wearing a turban feels like, go ahead and wear one. It generally takes some practice to learn how to tie a turban that looks nice, fits well and feels comfortable.
Hopefully you have some Sikhs around you where you live. I think it would help if you found some people of high integrity whom you admire and consult them on this issue. They would be able to teach you about the Sikh path and the daily practices.
Good luck.
Humbly,
Mangala Sadhu Sangeet Singh Khalsa

People don't convert to a faith, they embrace it.
