Summary of Question:WHY DO WE HAVE TO GO TO GURDWARA?

WHY DO WE HAVE TO GO TO GURDWARA? CAN'T SIKHS WORSHIP AT HOME? AND IS IT NOT RIGHT IF A SIKH DOES NOT GO TO GURDWARA OFTEN, THOUGH IF THEY ARE FAITHFUL TO THE RELIGION? AND DOES IT MEAN THAT A SIKH DOES NOT HAVE RESPECT TOWARDS OUR RELIGION IF THEY DON'T GO TO GURDWARA? I WOULD BE VERY PLEASED IF I COULD RECIEVE AN ANSWER SOON. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

There are many ways to pray - and all are fruitful. And all of us pray in different ways at different times. Sometimes we have the Waheguru Jaap going through our head as background music. Sometimes we sit down and meditate or read Gurbani, or do Nitnem Paath. And other times, we sit in Sadh Sangat and do kirtan together. In Guru Granth Sahib, a great deal of value is placed on prayer - including joint prayers with Sadh Sangat.

The other reason for going to the Gurdwara is langer. It gives the opportunity to SERVE the Sangat by helping cook the food, serving it, and sitting side by side and eating it. It helps us practice humility.

And another way of practicing humility would be to wipe the shoes of the Sangat - we can only do that if we go to the Gurdwara.

Regards.

Jasjit
