Avinash,

Your question was well received. Sikhism is a very tolerant religion and the Sikh Gurus preached universal tolerance. However, there are many reasons why you will see Sikhs today more suspicious of Hindus than ever before. Right after 1984 there has been a systematic attempt by the brahmin society at trying to uproot Sikhism and merge it with Hinduism. Within India or outside of India, 9 out of 10 hindus believe and try to convince others that Sikhism is merely a part of Hinduism. Some of your comments about Sikhs and hindu-punjabis are derived from that. Without going into details this is exactly the way Buddhism and Jainism were driven out of India. The ordinary hindu person is unaware of how the Sikh faith is trying to be distorted by the hindus in power. Read any of India's school textbooks and you see the Sikh history blatantly distorted. The true fact is that the Sikhs actually saved the Hindu religion from being annhilated during the Mughal rule in India (read the history of Guru Tegh Bahadur who is called hind-di-chadar for that exact reason).

Sikhs have been and still are very patriotic. As for the question of Sikhs in the indian army, the Sikh Regiment is the most highly decorated regiment in the Indian army. The sikhs have always been at the forefront to protect their country. You will be surprised to know that after 1984 there was a quota put on the number of sikhs who can enlist in the army, to try to keep the number of Sikhs down. My whole point is that while it is wrong to be hostile towards any religion, you have to understand the feeling and whole story behind such behaviour.
