Summary of Question:What Is The Proper Way Of Doing "Simran" ?
Category:Meditation

I would like to know if there is any proper way of doing Simran through which one can achieve the most "enjoyment". I know that Shree Guru Granth Saheb Jee mentions that a sikh should practice "Saas-Giraas" Simran (doing simran while inhaling and exhaling). I have tried this way of simran but this makes my throat very dry after some time. :-)

I would greatly appreciate any response to my question.

Thankyou.

I will limit my answer to your sentence about dry throat. If you are satisfied with this reply, you can perhaps ask your question again without the throat part.

I know someone who has been practicing the Naam Jupna with each breath, for a long time. And the way he does it, is through his sub conscious mind. Waheguru, Waheguru, Waheguru Jaap keeps on in his head like background music, while he attends to his daily chores. This does not involve the using of throat or any other physical organ - except I suppose some part of the brain.

This might be one way for you to avoid the problem with your dry throat.

Respectfully

Jasjit
