wjkk! wjkf!

The Gurdwara Sahib in my town has recently place an oil/ghee lamp in the Darbar Sahib. Recently i've noticed member's of the Sangat after bowing to Guru Granth Sahib Ji will then proceed to do the same to the lamp.

Does the lamp signify or rather form part of our maryada. I'm of the opnion that it is wrong and should be encourage. Please share your findings and perhaps with supporting material.

Gur Fateh!

Sat nam. No one ever explained to me why the ghee lamp burns in a gurdwara. BUT, there is a ghee lamp that burns at the Sri Harimander Sahib in Amritsar, and it never is allowed to go out. It is located in the small darbar on the roof of the Harimander. Devotees acknowledge this lamp as part of their visit to the Darbar.

I suggest you ask the management of your gurdwara!
Guru ang sang,
DK
