Summary of Question:Bad Health For Good People?
Category:Health
Date Posted:Tuesday, 10/26/2004 8:01 AM MDT

sometimes when I look to the skies in search of my Gurus face, theres one line that resides in my head...ITS NOT FAIR.

Why isit that the people who study the least get the best grades?
Why isit that the most devoted servants of the Lord are worst off?
Why isit THAT A TEENAGER WHO IS 15 AND HAS FULLY SUBMITTED THEMSELVES TO WAHEGURU gets spots WHEN HER FRIENDS WHO DONT EVEN TALK TO GOD GET THE BEAUTIFUL SKIN AND HAIR? WHY!!
My dad tells me you should never question Gods Hukam but lately I feel sad when I look at my face.. wHy is their skin lovely and mine looking like this? Why do they not remember God but get the rewards? Why am I devoted to God but finding looking in the mirror so hard?
I am not totally self obssesd about my looks;not at all. There are more things to life. My Guru judges my soul, not my face or spots... But why does my Guru not take my spots away!!

Rabh Rakha

(REPLY) Sat Nam. I understand, it's not easy to be a teenager and to have skin problems -- but believe me they won't last forever. Each of us has our own personal physical karma, based on the genes we inherited, the kind of diet we eat, and the lessons we need to learn in this lifetime. Who said life was supposed to be "fair?" Life is what we choose to make of it. Some people are born blind, or deaf, what then? We each have to make the best of what we have and what we are, and try to improve ourselves in every way possible. If you want to be happy, try to focus on those less fortunate than you (and there are plenty) and see how you can serve them. I really am sorry you have spots on your face -- and I hope you are seeking medical treatment if needed, but if you can be so sweet and kind and generous, your inner beauty will shine forth - believe me! Don't resent others who are different from you, they each have their own karma to pay, and their own lessons to learn. Don't compare and compete, but rather be conscious, calm, and contained, and pray for Guru to guide you and bless you with wisdom to understand how best to serve. SP
