I am very happy that you have such enthusiasm and hope that your love for your religion blossoms with your age. Modern instruments are not a problem (ex. the harmonium so typical an instrument was brought by the british...before the stringed instruments were used). But as for "jazzing" it up, I have some reservations. The primary thing is that the raaga system that was set up for the shabads must be conserved. Secondly, this is not normal "music". It is a music that must be meditated upon and therefore must be kept in such a
fashion. If you can maintain the integrity of the raagas and make it sound something that can be meditated to and respected, than I wish you all the best.
Reply: You are so right. Gurbani was all written in Raag. The Shabd combined with the system of Raag has a very great power. It penetrates the listener and cut through resistance and give the experience of the Naad.
This is indeed a technology to be studied and maintained and used for our presant and future generations.
