This past year my father has been diagnosed with diabetes. He is not amritari but follows the orders of our Gurus and does paat daily. The same with my mother and myself. A wonderful father to me and a caring husband to my mother. His father was diagnosed too but died because he would not give up alcohol [sharab]. My father does not drink nor eat meat. We have taken all percautions and warnings our family doctor and practionor/specailist have given us, by eating healthly, taking medication accordingly and etc. But i keep thinking not only is this good for him, but the faith and love for God he has will help him get through this.

I was wondering if you have any suggestions towards any certain prayers that he or my family could do that may help him and us give us strentgh to overcome this bump in the road. Maybe if you have any advice which may have helped you in the past though an illness in the family that you could offer i would be most grateful.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to your reply.
God Bless.

Sat Nam. My husband is also diabetic and has it very much under control. Besides diet, regular exercise is crutial. It is very, very important that your father exercises every day. My husband is actually healthier now with diabetis, because his diet is so good and he exercises faithfully every day. Diabetis does not have to be this horrible thing, if it is managed. As far as prayers, etc., I think he should just continue to do what he loves to do. And as far as the family, eat healthy and get out there and exercise with him. Diabetis is heritary, so change your life style now, so you can manage diabetis from the start. GTKK
