I think this is practically a requirement at the job and we guys can't get away with it. I was particularly asked before taking the job about this and I convinced them it shouldn't be an issue. The situation is akin to Sikh players wearing helmets while playing cricket.
I've been working for more than a year now and the hard hat over normal bandana (nicely tied) works absolutely fine. You'll need to choose hard hat of the right size. Another option is ofcourse to go Monty Panesar style if your jura is too big.
And about safety glasses: its simple! get ones which are not attached to the hard hat. You can also get prescription safety glasses made if you already wear glasses.
